MISSION
To Promote Advocacy and inclusion for every child by raising funds and awareness
STORY
The ALMA Project was created by Margaret Johnson, when she was a senior nursing student, in 2019. Margaret has been working with children in India since 2015. Working mainly with children having disabilities, she is passionate about bringing the tools and treatment plans available in the US to children in India. In 2018, Margaret developed a fundraiser called "Cookies4Kids" which raised more than 3,000 dollars for The New Delhi Children’s Hospital and Research Center (NDCHRC). During summer months of nursing school, Margaret went to work with NDCHRC. Her work there, after experiencing the US healthcare system, exposed the drastic differences in the quality of care, facilities and treatments available. The ALMA Project was created to increase the ability to raise funds and awarness for the betterment of children in India and other low resource countries.
Early Intervention is crucial for children with both physical and mental disability and there is very little attention being given to bring intervention to children suffering in India and around the world.
The ALMA Project’s fundraising will provide funding and support to organizations promoting early intervention for children with disabilities. The ALMA Project will also participate in local events and activities that promote the well being of children across the globe. We plan to provide information to increase public knowledge regarding persons with disabilities and other serious health complications.
